This activity uses dictation to help students first break the code and then allows them to find the hidden clues to find the solution.
You will need paper and a pen.
There are 7 codes in all
Each code comes with 5 strings of letters and figures
Task 1
1st Student Reads Code 1 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
2nd Student Reads Code 2 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
3rd Student Reads Code 3 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
4th Student Reads Code 4 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
5th Student Reads Code 5 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
6th Student Reads Code 6 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
7th Student Reads Code 7 to the Group. The Group writes the letters or figures down.
Task 2
Put the 5 strings of letters in the boxes provided in this download for each code as in the example below. (If you have a problem with printing just draw the boxes on a paper or copy the boxes below into a text document )

In pairs or different groups the students compare and check their codes.
