What about the people? How are they affected by the characteristics of place? 
Their language, style of government, architecture, industries--all define the special character of a place.

  1. Talk about your neighbourhood and tell your friends about what makes it unique. 
  2. Point out how it is similar to other places you have been and how it is different. 
  3. Talk about what animals and plants live in your neighbourhood. 
  4. You can talk about the buildings and discuss their uses. Are there features designed to meet weather conditions, such as window shutters or sun rooms? 
  5. Do the shapes of some buildings tell us how they were used in the past or how they are used now?
  6. Are there any parks, lakes or rivers?
  7. Is there a historical site close to your hometown? 
  8. Are there any points of interest?
